Call me crazy, but I am a dyed flaming redheaded conservative, alternative rock-loving, tattooed, Sinead O'Connor fan who knows every song from the '50's and '60's, and card carrying member of the Republican party.

For anyone trying to find the "right" gift for your single female friends, consider the the Boyfriend's Arm Pillow. Kameo, based in the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka, says the pillow is not only an emotional comfort, but that its shape keeps the body balanced by supporting the sleeper from both sides. Sleepers typically curl up in between the body of the pillow and the crooked arm, with the sleeper's head resting on the pillow's 'bicep'. Does this creep anyone el...

This site, Home of the Brave sells a beautiful poster created by a local Michigan artist, Jonathan Durand. The poster is a reasonable $10.00 with $3.00 for shipping and handling. The proceeds are presented to the widows of fallen soldiers in Michigan. Here is a letter from the artist: Dear Fellow Citizens, May I begin in stating how grateful we are for your consideration of this presentation. Our efforts have been focused on being a blessing to the Michigan widows, children and fami...

It takes a lot to make me angry I rarely experience the emotion True raw anger I usually feel guilty Or blame myself I was wrong, rotten, mean I caused it. Angry Visciously vehemently My reasons are logical Yet my thoughts are not Couldn't logically express them But through the madness, the scorn is righteous My feelings are red, bloody red My heart is black, vile black I feel no love for your artistry Your brainwashing Your enlightenment I am offended Offended you t...

I have never been overly fond of beauty pageants, but was never truly bothered by them. Now with the success of shows like The Swan, Extreme Makeover, and Nip and Tuck, we have plastic surgery beauty pageants?!? I know that The Swan does this, but at least they make an attempt to claim these women "need" the help. Well, China has just created the first award for man-made beauty. Lovely..... Let's look at history: first lip plates, foot binding, corsets, plastic surgery What is ne...

Call me crazy, but I am ignorant on all things Santa. As I have mentioned in past blogs, Christmas and other such mainstream holidays were nonexistent in my childhood. In my adult married life, Zombie has helped me adapt to traditional celebrations through thoughtful reasoning. We enjoy Christmas, Easter, birthdays, and even Halloween. The process has been slow and at times painful (Halloween occurred at our house for the first time this year...still a little uncomfortable...but costumes ...

During this holiday season, parties are a part of the tradition. Office parties pose a huge safety risk according to Britain's Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). Here are a few guidelines for a successfully safe office party. 1)"Resist the temptation to photocopy parts of your anatomy," RoSPA and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) said. "If the copier breaks, you'll have Christmas with glass in painful places." 2)"Dancing on desks could do them and you a lot of damage,"...

Ways Geeks Celebrate Christmas 11. Mountain Dew-nog 10. Printing out "One Year of Free Computer Service" certificates to give to the family. 9. Designing elf-killing levels for your favorite FPS. 8. Explaining to children how it would be physically impossible for Santa to deliver all the presents. 7. Wear mistletoe hat and keep fingers crossed. 6. Devise a computer-controlled system to detect and prevent household members from trying to peek into their presents before Christma...

I found the perfect gift for anyone who spends most of the day in front of the computer. The 5.25 Drive Bay Lighter and Cup Holder If I had the resources, I would buy one for everyone at JU. What JU would you buy a gift? Why would you choose this person? What would you give them? *and since we are dreaming, I would also give Texas Wahine peace and happiness*

While reading Christmas-Why do we celebrate it like we do on KarmaGirl's blog, I noticed that the comment section turned into a partial discussion on pathways to God. Some bloggers believed only through "Jesus" could someone reach salvation or God. Others thought multiple pathways lead to the same end result of God . I am currently reading a book titled, The History of God by Karen Armstrong. Her writing and study is challenging, but highly pertinent and fascinating. This discussion re...

Cher had plastic surgery, everywhere. Madonna changes her hair color, often. Newsanchors receive botox. Models pay for breasts. Movie stars nip and tuck. Even Presidential candidates, sculpt and define. Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi and Gary Sheffield used steroids. Why are all but the latter accepted practices of altering the body for career advancement except the last? Is it the health issue? All of them have some research somewhere alleging deleterious effects, even hai...

Check out this website Draft Al Gore to run for President in 2008. This would be a Republican dream come true. Where do I sign up to make donations? Al Gore has completely lost all semblance of sanity since the 2000 election. Some Democrats are living in a serious fantasy land.

*A special thanks to Little_whip's article How the left stole Christmas for the inspiration for this blog* Our culture is rife with double messages. We promote individuality, diversity, and "bucking the system". Rebels are held in the highest esteem as artists, philosophers, and leaders. Yet, we have to be careful not to offend those that are diverse, individuals, and outside of the mainstream. We adjust the "system" and culture to cater to the feelings of those diverse peoples as...

After watching a documentary of Ben Franklin on the History Channel today, I was intrigued by the famous quotations he wrote. After a little research, I found literally thousands of his quotes. Here are a few of my favorites. Which ones strike your fancy, my fellow JUs? I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled mu...
