Call me crazy, but I am a dyed flaming redheaded conservative, alternative rock-loving, tattooed, Sinead O'Connor fan who knows every song from the '50's and '60's, and card carrying member of the Republican party.

Recently declassified Pentagon documents reveal an investigation into a bizarre theory for a non-lethal bomb. It was a sexual bomb that makes soldiers irresistable to each other. That is truly f#$*ed up. What were they thinking? Wonder if they were going to name it the "Gay Bomb?" At least this idea never became a viable reality.     Pentagon reveals rejected chemical weapons 15 January 2005 THE Pentagon considered developing a host of non-lethal chemical weapons...

Call me crazy. It is okay, really. Laugh even. Crazy people have a sense of humor, too.   The Vermont Teddy Bear Company has recently received considerable protests and public outrage from Mental Health Advocates. The controversy started over the Crazy for You Bear the company is marketing this Valentine's Day.   Are you offended by this bear? I think it is hilarious! As one crazy person, I can tell you this is not offensive. Most seriously crazy people, equip...

*Dad don't read this!* Call me crazy, but I can curse like a sailor. I try to never cuss in front of my children, so usually by 9pm each day, I sound like a person afflicted with Tourette's. The obsenities flee from my mouth like our newly released pet bird. During the day, Zombie giggles and pokes fun at my "alternative" attempts to pre-emptively strike against my cursing nature. I have been known to shout, "Sunny Beaches of Texas" instead of SOB when I stub my toe. I can be heard yelli...

Legislation run amuck. The Houston City Council recently passed a new "SAFEclear" program, which just so happens to also be a law. Mayor Bill White was the mastermind behind the ridiculous plan. Here is a brief summary of the "traffic reducing" legislation.     Under the program, 11 towing companies have contracts with the city to respond to all disabled vehicles within six minutes and promptly get them off the highway once authorized by a police officer at Houston T...

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep.... You are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish some place... You are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness... You are more blessed than the million who will not survive the week. If you have ...

My son, Jakob, thought this picture of me as a little girl was his twin sister, Rachel. I do see the resemblance. Do you? The first picture is me and the other two are Rachel.

For anyone trying to find the "right" gift for your single female friends, consider the the Boyfriend's Arm Pillow. Kameo, based in the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka, says the pillow is not only an emotional comfort, but that its shape keeps the body balanced by supporting the sleeper from both sides. Sleepers typically curl up in between the body of the pillow and the crooked arm, with the sleeper's head resting on the pillow's 'bicep'. Does this creep anyone el...

This site, Home of the Brave sells a beautiful poster created by a local Michigan artist, Jonathan Durand. The poster is a reasonable $10.00 with $3.00 for shipping and handling. The proceeds are presented to the widows of fallen soldiers in Michigan. Here is a letter from the artist: Dear Fellow Citizens, May I begin in stating how grateful we are for your consideration of this presentation. Our efforts have been focused on being a blessing to the Michigan widows, children and fami...

Call me crazy, but I am ignorant on all things Santa. As I have mentioned in past blogs, Christmas and other such mainstream holidays were nonexistent in my childhood. In my adult married life, Zombie has helped me adapt to traditional celebrations through thoughtful reasoning. We enjoy Christmas, Easter, birthdays, and even Halloween. The process has been slow and at times painful (Halloween occurred at our house for the first time this year...still a little uncomfortable...but costumes ...

During this holiday season, parties are a part of the tradition. Office parties pose a huge safety risk according to Britain's Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). Here are a few guidelines for a successfully safe office party. 1)"Resist the temptation to photocopy parts of your anatomy," RoSPA and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) said. "If the copier breaks, you'll have Christmas with glass in painful places." 2)"Dancing on desks could do them and you a lot of damage,"...

I found the perfect gift for anyone who spends most of the day in front of the computer. The 5.25 Drive Bay Lighter and Cup Holder If I had the resources, I would buy one for everyone at JU. What JU would you buy a gift? Why would you choose this person? What would you give them? *and since we are dreaming, I would also give Texas Wahine peace and happiness*

After watching a documentary of Ben Franklin on the History Channel today, I was intrigued by the famous quotations he wrote. After a little research, I found literally thousands of his quotes. Here are a few of my favorites. Which ones strike your fancy, my fellow JUs? I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled mu...

As everyone already knows, during this last election, exit polls showed that 20% of voters cited "moral values" as their top concern. "Desperate Housewives" is currently the #1 rated show in prime time television. Does this dichotomy make Americans hypocrites? Can you be a highly moral person and enjoy a show like "Desperate Housewives?" Maybe, there is no hypocrasy. Do people concerned with "moral values" also enjoy the entertainment value of "Desperate Housewives?" Is the issue s...
