Call me crazy, but I am a dyed flaming redheaded conservative, alternative rock-loving, tattooed, Sinead O'Connor fan who knows every song from the '50's and '60's, and card carrying member of the Republican party.

Call me crazy because I would like to thank John Kerry. For the first time during this campaign season, John Kerry did something statesmanly and upstanding; he conceded. Thank you Senator Kerry for being a better man that Al Gore 4 years ago. Thank you for realizing that it would be detrimental to our country to have another election in the courts. Thank you John Kerry for accepting the things you cannot nor should not try to change.

The whole country appreciates your actions.

I liked that Kerry finally admitted that John Edwards was "his partner", then gave him a big long hug in front of everyone. I'm so glad they finally came out of the closet.

Yah, too bad they can't marry, tho. Salt in wounds, zOmbie dude. Kinda mean spirited, doncha think?

Thanks iamheather. I agree wholeheartedly. As a liberal and a Kerry supporter, I was reluctant to see him try to take this thing to court. The situation is very different than in 2000. I am still licking my political wounds, but I like to think we know when to concede. And frankly, I think 11 am this morning was prudent and wise (as opposed to, say, 2 am EST this morning).

But I would also ask that you look for his statesmanship, albeit retrospectively, back across the last few months. He was always this way. Maybe this is the only time it is safe for his opponents to acknowledge it. And I would have expected him to be a gracious winner if Ohio or Florida had gone the other way. But neither did and he lost. And now we find out what Bush will do with four mour years -- they are, after all, clearly his to "do with".

I tried. I truly did. I do not dislike all liberals. I happen to greatly respect Joe Leiberman. He is a statesman at all times. Unfortunately, I do not think calling people "liars" when you disagree with something is very statesmanly.

Heather, this is one Class A blog!  While my disdain for Kerry is still real and raw (up from contempt), he did do a real Class Act thing.  I wonder if he can give some lessons to the schmucks in the Democrat party Like Gore, Kennedy, Daschle (oops!  That would be wasted!), Edwards and Billary?

ya think?  Maybe we can have real debate now.  What a breath of fresh air!

iamwithyou iamheather.

I would have been very conflicted by a choice between Bush and Leiberman. And Kerry today did the one & only thing of his entire campaign worthy of respect.

Cheers,
Daiwa

Earth to Alison...where are you coming from? My very best friend is a homosexual. Your ignorant comment is astonishing.

Wow, that's almost like saying, "I'm not racist, I have a black friend."  I had a law professor who would laugh everytime someone told him that, and shake his head.  I'm not saying it's the case here, I just remembered Johnny Parker and had to laugh.

Yet another fine example of someone trying to buy an education and not getting their monies worth. Like my wife always says, you can't buy an IQ. So lets dispense with the half hearted attempt not to say iamheather is a homophobe and lets assume you have enough spine to back what you are implying.
Let's examine iamheathers friendship in the light of 'reality' instead of the sterilzed meanderings of someone that teaches law instead of practices law.

First, iamheathers friend is a homosexual man. He was born that way, and carries many traits generally defined to homosexual males: he is creative, he is effiminate, he is a very sharp dresser and speaks in a higher pitched voice than the average male. He is also HIV POSITIVE, because of his past sexual activity.
Iamheather and her friend spend many a day and night talking about whatever they want on the phone to one another. The two friends met working retail together, and hit it off immediatly. Iamheathers friend was obviously homosexual from his gestures and speech (and the fact he has never hid this). You would think, from an 'intellectual' standpoint, that iamheather would be unable to cope with this persons sexuality: she is conservative, pro-life and a practicing Christian.

The truth is that it never bothered her. She takes people as they are, and understands nobody is perfect. She looks beyond sexuality or race. She admittedly has a problem with gender, as most womens attitudes make her sick, but thats for another blog.
Your law professor is an idiot. Iamheather has bonded closely with her friend. They spend time together and share both good and bad events. For iamheather to truely be homophobic, she would have to have an insurmountable bias against gays, excluding any potential friendship shem might develop with someone of this specific sexuality.

How do I know all this? I'm her husband. I spend at least an hour or more every day sitting down and just chatting with my wife. Her life interests me, and her friends are pretty neat people (like she is).

What is interesting is how superior the liberal collegiate have become to feel about themselves. Apparently the brainwashing of their professors took between beer bong hits, and now their cute little diplomas signify their superiority over everyone else.
Here's a little news flash: You are not my superior, nor my wifes. And if you were worth any more of time (which I promise, you can't afford my rates, because I charge about 3x as much as your doctor does) I'd offer up any challange you'd like. Call me arrogant, I won't mind, because I know what I have achieved without having to rely on the purchased 'wisdom' of second rate academics too afraid to compete in the real world.

Zombie, take your prozac and relax, why do I say that? because I said in my post I was laughing, not about her post, but about a memory.  Oh, and if you are so uneducated as to say that someone who has gone to law school, gotten two post graduate degrees, and teaches college history is ignorant, than you need a reality check.  I'm not saying your wife is a homophobe, I'm not the one who wrote that.  Oh, and since, in practice, I can guarantee I charged way more than you could even legitimately say that you charge, let's just assume, that not only could I afford your rates, I could buy up your mortgage, your car, and all of your family's too without breaking a sweat.

Cheers

Just because they have a degree and are book smart does NOT mean they can't be ignorant. I was taught that stupid meant you had a inablility to learn and that to be ignorant meant you did care to learn.

So true, however, since I consider it a personal privelege to still be learning even though I have two, almost three kids in college, that, while I may be ignorant about some things, I'm not about most.

Cheers
