Call me crazy, but I am a dyed flaming redheaded conservative, alternative rock-loving, tattooed, Sinead O'Connor fan who knows every song from the '50's and '60's, and card carrying member of the Republican party.

I haven't been around.

I don't know when I will again.

My mother has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

All my energy goes to praying for her,

worrying about her,

somewhere in there, taking care of my family.

Pray for her. Brain surgery is......

Heather's Mom's tumor is benign though still in a dangerous place.

Most benign tumors in the brain in the elderly are meningiomas, neurinomas or neurofibromas. The concern regarding the tumor being in a "dangerous place" is the possibility that not all of the tumor could be safely resected and that some may have to be left behind. Should this be the case, adjuvant options (as in stereotaxic radiosurgery)may be discussed by your neurosurgeon, which may be very helpful. A lot of patients with benign tumors of the brain "in dangerous places" have been helped by both surgery and other adjuvant options, and there is indeed reason to be hopeful of a good outcome. I wish your Mom well.

My father had a brain tumor removed about 5 years ago. I know how worried you must be. I hope everything goes well and I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thank you for all your kind thoughts, prayers, and words. Please include my father as well, as he has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Things are a bit hectic and stressful around here. I miss you all.

I apologize. I don't respond well when someone preaches to me. Someone else got me to see I was wrong without using religion. Go ahead and delete this after you read it if you want.
